Chijoke Okeke
Orientation Coordinator
Hey Freshmen! My name is Chijoke Okeke, but most people call me Chi Chi. I am a rising junior, majoring in Economics (which you should know is Course 14). I was born in Rochester, NY and lived there for 10 years with my two younger brothers and two younger sisters. I am now living in the small town of Salem, NH so I'm used to snow and cold temperatures. Besides being an Orientation Coordinator for the 2014 class, I am also active in various other student groups and activities on campus.
Sports are my life. I am a huge sports fan, both playing and watching. I play in almost every IM (Intramural) sport that MIT has to offer, including soccer (indoor and outdoor), softball, volleyball, dodgeball, frisbee, and octathon and I'm captain of my IM basketball and football teams. It is very easy to stay active in sports at MIT even if you aren't varsity because of all the the IM sports available. The Z Center is also amazing with opportunities to practice numerous sports. On most afternoons or nights, when I'm not studying, you can find me shooting hoops in rockwell cage. In terms of watching, I am a HUGE Yankees fan so as you can expect I get looks when I wear any of my vast array Yankee hats on campus. What can I say, I have to rep my team. I also love music, really any type beside country and I lean toward the rap and hip hop side. It is not uncommon to see some ear buds in my ears while I'm dancing down the infinite.
I loved my Orientation two years ago and you better believe the Orientation Coordinators, Suzie, Reguli and I, are engineering (pun intended) something amazing this time around to make this Orientation bigger and better than EVER.
