Shelly Jin
Orientation Coordinator
Hey guys! My name is Shelly, and I’m a rising junior double majoring in Economics and Math (Course 14 and 18!) I grew up as an only child in South Florida, first living in Miami, then Boca Raton, and now Boynton Beach (think balmy weather, gorgeous beaches, and random hurricanes). Now, I have a little, precious three year old sister, whom I spent the last year of high school and every visit home babysitting. Growing up, I’ve always been very active and involved in a variety of activities, and I continue to do so at MIT.
I’m currently an analyst at Global Platinum Securities, a student run investment fund, and I teach tutorial sections and conduct research in the Economics Department. I also serve as the treasurer of the Undergraduate Economics Association, and am active in the Associate Advising Steering Committee and the Society of Women Engineers.
I love shopping, eating, reading, exploring and hanging out with friends. I grew up swimming, playing the piano, and practicing taekwondo, and try to do so at every opportunity. I am easily amused, go on sugar highs, have an unhealthy obsession with chocolate, and a very healthy obsession with froyo. Get excited for Orientation! It’s going to be unforgettable!
