How do you define international students for orientation? I'm an American citizen, but I applied from abroad.

If you have a United States passport, you are NOT considered an international student and do not have to participate in the International Student Orientation.

Arrival is "Arrival- By Saturday, August 27 at Noon"
How early could we get to campus without a FPOP?

Posted by: Alex on June 16, 2011 12:49 PM

Hi Alex! If you are not participating in an FPOP, fall early return sport, or International Student Orientation the earliest you can arrive on campus is Friday, August 26th.

Will the dining halls be open in the dorms on August 21?

Posted by: NB on July 26, 2011 6:28 PM

Hi NB,
The dining halls will be not be open on August 21st. They usually open around Labor Day weekend. There will be lots of food during Orientation and there are plenty of places near campus to dine or purchase food including the student center. Don't worry, you won't go hungry!

I will be arriving August 22nd and my parents are are driving with all my belongings arriving August 27th. Do we unload all my belongs in my temporary room? If I am happy with my room can I go ahead and unpack?
Thanks!

Posted by: Matt on July 30, 2011 4:28 PM

Hi Matt,
When you arrive on campus and check into your assigned residence hall you will unload your things in your temporary room. My advice would be to not completely unpack until after the readjustment lottery. You may or may not move, so in the case that you do, it will be easier if you haven't already unpacked everything. If you do move there will be students on hand to help. See you in a few weeks!

When does orientation end? I know once we're there, we're there for good, but I'm trying to figure out how much time I have to take off of work. (I work in boston.) I assume orientation doesn't go from the 27th all the way to when classes start?

Posted by: Mackenzie on August 2, 2011 9:18 AM

Hi Mackenzie, Closing Ceremonies for Orientation are on Saturday, Sept. 3rd. Keep in mind, there will still be lots of activities happening including Rush and Recruitment for fraternities and sororities. You will get a complete schedule when you check in for Orientation. See you in a few weeks!

Hi,
Will it be possible to have packages mailed to Maseeh Hall the week of August 21?
I have received my room assignment number already.

Thanks!

Posted by: NB on August 3, 2011 2:34 PM

Hi NB, You may have packages sent to Maseeh Hall once you have arrived on campus and have checked in with housing. Residence halls will not accept packages if a student has not moved in yet. If you need to mail something before you arrive, I would recommend Metropolitan Moving and Storage, a company that is not far from campus. Otherwise, wait until you arrive on campus before having things mailed to you.

Do you provide shuttle to students from the airport during orientation weekend? I know you did that for CPW week. But I am not sure if my daughter has to take a cab when she arrives for the orientation

Posted by: vn on August 18, 2011 3:48 PM

Hi Vn, We do not provide a shuttle from the airport for Orientation. Your daughter can either take a cab or public transportation. Directions from the airport using the "T" can be found at www.mbta.com.
